QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school diploma or equivalent
2. 60+ college credit hours
3. Such alternative to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
4. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher)
5. Knowledgeable and experienced with Library Automation Systems (i.e.:Alexandria)
6. Skills in Internet research
7. Able to operate various technology/audiovisual equipment (LCD projectors, Elmos, laminator, binder, scanner and digital cameras).
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
5 hours/day; 187 days school term
REPORTS TO:
Building Principal, Librarian
JOB GOAL:
To complete the detail and written work and to coordinate other matters essential to the efficiency and effectiveness of the library services.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Maintains current inventory of all equipment and materials.
2. Process and record new materials (including AV materials and equipment) added to library.
3. Maintains usage schedule of library media center materials and equipment.
4. Ensures all equipment is properly maintained and replaced as necessary.
5. Assist librarian as appropriate and in their absence.
6. Assist librarian in a variety of duties such as circulation, library instruction, and filing
and copying of materials.
7. Provide assistance with the operation of audiovisual equipment and software and maintain
equipment.
8. Assists staff and students with general reference questions, including assisting with Internet and other
educational technology issues.
9. Assist Librarian in preparation for class instruction and assist with supervision of students.
10. Generate and disseminate overdue notices.
11. Process daily circulations including newspapers, magazines, vertical files, etc.
12. Performs clerical duties attached to selection, acquisition, processing, and purging of library
material.
13. Assists in special projects such as laminating materials, checking out materials, purchase orders,
minor maintenance of media center equipment, etc.
14. Assists in preparing and maintaining educational displays and materials which enforce district
curriculum.
15. Assists with yearly inventory.
16. Conducts library classes for Kindergarten and 1st grade; and other classes on an as-need basis.
17. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Building Administration and/or Librarian.
