QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Certificate in cross-categorical in SPED or in the individual area of vacancy
  2. Degree in special education (B.S. minimum)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Regular Education Certified
  2. Successful experience in teaching at-risk students
  3. Successful experience in alternative school programming

 REPORTS TO:

      SPED Process Coordinator, Building Administration, and Director of Special Services

 

SUPERVISES:

      Students

 

JOB GOAL:

 

      To provide each student in their class or under the teacher’s case management responsibilities with a program that will enable the student to reach his or her fullest physical, emotional, cognitive, and behavioral potential.           

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide core program for IDEA students in classroom
  2. Follow goals and objectives as stated in IEP for each student.
  3. Maintain communication with parent on the educational progress of student.
  4. Work with building process coordinator in delivery of services to IDEA students.
  5. Work with general education teachers in screening, evaluating and providing inclusion under parameters of IEP.
  6. Develop accommodations to meet the unique needs of students in classroom, CWC, or inclusive setting.
  7. Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
  8. Prepare for assigned classes and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
  9. Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
  10. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  11. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
  12. Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
  13. Supervise and maintain appropriate student behavior within the classroom and all other areas of the building.
  14. Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
  15. Attend staff meetings and building and district activities designated by Board policies and contractual agreement.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned by building administration.
