QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor’s Degree
2. Possess a valid Missouri Teacher’s Certificate
3. Hold or be eligible for Missouri ESOL Endorsement

 

SALARY:   Commensurate with experience and education based on BOE policy

Building Administration and Director of Special Services

JOB GOAL:
The English Language Learner teacher is responsible for working collaboratively with the classroom teachers in managing the instruction and assessment for those students assigned to him/her in order to increase student achievement and meet individual student needs. This person supervises children enrolled in his/her classes as assigned by the building principal and aides volunteers who have been assigned to his/her instructional area of responsibility.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Meets and instructs assigned classes.
2. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of established district curriculum goals, establishes and communicates clear objectives to the students for all lessons, units, and projects.
3. Employs a variety of instructional techniques requiring student engagement in the learning process.
4. Assesses the accomplishments of students using a variety of strategies on a regular basis, provides progress reports as required and initiates communication with parents as deemed necessary.
5. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
6. Works collaboratively with regular classroom teachers to facilitate the integration of limited English proficient students into the general education curriculum.
7. Work cooperatively with the coordinator in implementing the district’s ELL practices and procedures.
8. Administer test and language assessments for the purpose of evaluating students’ language ability.
9. Perform all other duties as assigned by Building Administrator or Director of Special Services.
