QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Certificate in Special Education or School Psychology
  2. Masters in Education in Special Education or Masters in related field, with knowledge of the Special Education Process

 

REPORTS TO:

     

      Director of Special Services and Building Principal

                                                                                                                                   

JOB GOAL:

      Coordinate the devising and implementation of programming to meet the unique needs of IDEA students in their building, including coordination of all compliance time lines under state plan.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Facilitate enrollment of all new students to include transfer documentation, diagnostic evaluation reports, Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and scheduling of students in collaboration with principal and counselor.
  2. Facilitate all staffing, IEP meetings, Notices of Action, re-evaluations, and dismissals occurring in their assigned building(s).
  3. Monitor all state plan compliance issues within their building(s) and report any atypical issues to Director of Special Services.
  4. Coordinate and facilitate all Manifestation Determination in conjunction with building principal.
  5. Represent students under IDEA in long term hearings.
  6. Work as the liaison between teachers and parents over SPED programming issues.
  7. Monitor Special Education building budget.
  8. Conduct workshops as needed with building staff and work with individual staff on instructional strategies and practices.
  9. Keep parents informed of student progress.
  10. Recommend programming and accommodation activities to both general and special education staff.
  11. Work with principals in evaluation and hiring of paraprofessionals.
  12. Work with principal and Director of Special Education in hiring of certified staff.
  13. Comply with all IDEA time lines in delivery of services to student.
  14. All other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Services and/or Building Principal.
