Act as a liaison among school district programs, community agencies, teachers, students, and families.

Consult with parents, administrators, counselors, teachers, and other relevant individuals regarding enrollment and school placement.

Provide parent activities to build upon parents’ ability to support their children with academic goals.

Administer Newcomer Screener Kit, WIDA Screener, and/or WIDA ACCESS Assessment as requested.

Facilitate communication with parents, students, and school staff by translating orally between the native language and English in meetings, consultations, assessments, and other interactions as required.

Communicate with parents of multilingual learners and provide translation services in order to discuss attendance, parent meetings, health issues, literacy events, and other school programs.

Collaborate with district social worker(s) to refer parents to applicable community services for which they may qualify through the development of a referral system.

Make regular home visits (with other relevant school staff) to families to develop rapport, assess needs, and build on strengths.

Inform school staff of changes in family situations that might reflect on child behavior or attendance.

Keep an accurate regard regarding communications, student progress, and services provided.

Collaborate with ELD staff and other family advocates.

Attend work, in a regular, reliable, and punctual manner

Participate in ongoing professional growth opportunities and follow ethical and legal standards and guidelines.
